On Thanksgiving I decided to colorblock black and taupe. I wore a black over-sized high-low sweater with high rise taupe treggings and black platform booties. For accessories I wore a large taupe tote and gold jewelry. This outfit was not only chic and stylish, but also extremely comfortable. I love rolling up long sleeve shirts or sweaters because I think it is more flattering and it helps show off a watch or bracelet. Showing a little skin also helps the outfit not look too bulky, especially when colorblocking. Treggings/leggings with a large sweater conceals the tummy area and the stretchiness of the treggings does not squeeze your stomach like a pair of jeans would. Perfect outfit for a day full of eating and comfort!

Get the look:

  • Black over-sized high-low sweater: H&M ($10)
  • High-rise taupe treggings: Forever 21 ($14.90)
  • 5″ Black platform booties:  Lamoda.co.uk ($40)
  • Large taupe tote: Flea Market ($10)

Bold Lip: Vampy Makeup

DSCF8385

With my black and gray evening look, I decided to do a vampy makeup look because I thought it fit the evening theme well and it added a sophisticated aspect to the overall look. The bold lip is “Instigator” by Mac; it is a matte lippie and I love it not only because of the dark purple color, but also because it MADE the look. Makeup makes a huge difference on an outfit. MAC matte lipsticks feel smooth on the lips while having a matte finish, which is the best part about them because matte lipsticks usually make your lips feel dry. Since the lip is so bold, I stayed with neutrals for the eyeshadow; I used the Maybelline Nude Pallette. Maybelline FIT Me foundation in shade 355 (coconut) was used and the NYX Contour pallette for highlight and contour. For strobing (luminous highlighter), I used “Wisp” by ColourPop. I used a brown eyebrow pencil to fill in my brows a little and used Black Opal concealer to clean up the perimeter of the brows.

Evening Look

I wore this chic outfit last night to the mall- my friends and I had a Girls Night Out shopping at the King of Prussia Mall and dinner at an Italian restaurant, Maggiano’s. Usually, I dress extremely casual going to the mall but I was out with friends and we went to dinner, so I dressed up a little more. I am wearing a marled gray ribbed midi shirt tucked in a pair of H&M black high waist jeans. For accessories,  I added a silver necklace and large hoop earrings. I typically would not wear any sort of heel to the mall, but these black faux leather booties were comfortable when walking around the mall for a few hours. These booties have a chunky heel of 3″ and platform of .5″.  Booties are always my go-to because they can be worn casually or dressy. It was chilly out, so I wore my black pea coat and left it open to show the pop of gray. To finish the look, I put my hair in a slick bun, which showed off my large earrings. I chose a vampy makeup look because I thought it complimented the gray and black well, and it also worked well for an evening look.

Olive Pants

Styling olive green pants:

H&M olive green pants (cuffed to make them tight around the ankle).

Black color block: ballerina top, faux leather booties, Calvin Klein peacoat.

Flannel to introduce more color (red and nude).

Accessory: chunky gold chain.

Makeup of the Night + Colourpop Review

Blog selfie

*This is the makeup in the “Simple OOTN” post.

Face: For a foundation I used FIT ME by Maybelline in the color 355. After that, I used a setting powder that I purchased from a local beauty supply store. To highlight and contour, I used the NYX Highlight &Contour Pro Pallette: for the hightlight I used the yellow tone powder and for the contour I used the darkest brown powder. For a flawless matte finish (for oily skin) I used the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray.

Eyes: I used the Maybelline Nude pallete in a gold shade for my eyeshadow and a dark brown shade for my creases, Loreal Voluminous Butterfly mascara, Elf liquid eye liner, and a brow pencil to fill in my eyebrows (I cleaned up the brow line with Black Opal concealer).

Lips and Illuminator: For my lipstick and illuminator I used two new items I purchased from ColourPop. This is an ultramatte lippie called “Limbo”. It is a deep chocolate brown that is perfect for Fall! The first time I used this lipstick I thought it was too light, but it turns out it is the perfect shade for me…not too light and not too dark. I’m in love with it! It also is very pigmented and stays on all night…this includes while eating and drinking. I did not have to re-apply it at all and it was only $6.00! Another must-have item from ColorPop is the illuminator (highlight) I used to give my face a beautiful glow. The color is “Wisp”; it is a golden champagne. I used it to highlight my brow arch, inner eye, cupid’s bow, and right above the contour on my cheeks. Again, it is very pigmented like the lippie and gives a beautiful glow. It was only $8.00: very cheap compared to other illuminators and it will last a while. a little goes a long way and size of the container is perfect.

Black Booties

Black booties are an essential part of fall fashion. I purchased a pair of round-toed faux leather booties online at Charlotte Russe for $15. The heel is 3.5″ and the platform is 0.5″. They are perfect for a casual everyday outfit, especially for a college student. They can even be dressed up to go on an evening date or to go out with friends. Not to mention, they are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. There’s no better feeling than being both stylish and comfy at the same time.
